About the Event

On the first day of national lockdown in March 2020, novelist Sarah Hall turned to writing. The book that emerged is Burntcoat, in which a celebrated sculptor faces her death and reflects on memories and desire formed in the crucible of lockdown and isolation. At the Words by the Water Festival, Sarah will share insights on the lockdown experience and her latest novel, and reflect on her creative process.
