About the Event

Join us for a special evening of poetry live on stage as Poet Laureate Simon Armitage reads a variety of work from his latest books: Magnetic Field, inspired by the West Yorkshire village where he grew up and began life as a writer, and The Owl and the Nightingale, which featured in his BBC Radio 4 hit series The Poet Laureate has Gone to his Shed. He will also read some new work, answer questions from the audience and afterwards sign books.

Celebrated as ‘the most popular and prolific British poet of his generation’ (The Times), Armitage has published eleven poetry collections, two novels and three non-fiction bestsellers.  In 2018, he was awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. This event will be an hours reading, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
