3 minute read
What is the best song to wake up to?

‘Good Day Sunshine’.

What one meal could resurrect you from the dead?

Depends on the time of year and where I am. If it’s after a late night, breakfast. Poached eggs on toast. If it’s an evening meal, maybe sushi or a lovely Chinese, lots of green bok choy and pea tops.

Who or what has most influenced your career?

David Bowie and Tony Defries, I learnt so much from those two after Mick died. Peace Sullivan, Terry and Daniele Ellis and Isabel Rose too, who were clients I worked with and remain friends of mine.

What song do you wish you wrote?

So many. ’Blowin’ in the Wind’ by Bob Dylan, ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, or anything the Beatles wrote. ‘What Was I Made For’ by Billie Eilish is a firm favourite at the moment, she is so good.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

Parts of my past and my feet!

What is your most valued possession?

Freedom, my health, my family – I know they are not possessions, but they mean everything to me. I hope people realise how lucky we are to live where we live.

Which artist would you most like to bring back to life?

Mick Ronson. He was too young to die and had so much more to give. And van Gogh. He only sold one painting while he was alive. Tragic.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A songwriter and model. LOL, fantasy stuff.

What are you most fascinated with?

People, animals, nature, art, history. There isn’t just one thing, there are so many. The universe is endless.

What was your first job?

The paper round, a sweet shop assistant and a snow shoveler.

Where would you take an alien to teach them about life on Earth?

This is hard. I would actually hope they might teach us how to save this beautiful planet for all of its inhabitants, ‘all’ being the operative word.

What do you splurge on?

Shoes, clothes and travel.

How do you pass time on a long flight?

It depends on where I’m sitting, LOL.

How do you like to celebrate success?

Champagne and something nice to remember the success with.

From expensive candles to bowls of brown-free M&Ms on demand, the artist’s rider is a key part of their mystique: what would yours be and why?

Nice bottle of wine, I love one glass before going on; a decent mirror so I can see myself properly; a comfortable chair so I have somewhere nice to sit; a nice blanket, venues can be so cold; some snacks to nibble on and water.
