Faber Voices

Faber announces the launch of Faber Voices, a new series to push the boundaries of the ebook and connect the spoken with the written word.

Faber Voices is a new series of digital-only poetry ebooks which present the work of Ted Hughes, Seamus Heaney, Philip Larkin and Wendy Cope as never before.

Each ebook features a new selection of the poet’s work with a line-by-line synchronised recording of the poet’s own reading. The text of each poem is presented in a beautifully-designed fixed format layout to display the poem exactly as intended by the poet, in the same font as Faber’s print editions.

The ebooks in the series are built using the Epub 3.0 standard and are among the first titles to take advantage of the new functionality this offers. Each of the four debut titles is priced at £2.99.

Henry Volans, Head of Digital, comments:

‘Faber Voices has the potential to bring poetry in its spoken form – read by the poets – to a larger audience than ever before. In harnessing the recordings to the written works in a single ebook we believe we are presenting a new way to appreciate poetry. The four launch titles are the start of what will be a significant new list designed to grow as ebooks themselves become ever more sophisticated.’

The Faber Voices series is available on the Apple iBooks platform.
