In a solitary journey across moorland from Cornwall to the Borders, William Atkins (in his book The Moor) walks across this most mysterious landscape to understand why it plays such a unique place in our literature, history and collective psyche. Along the way he encounters moorland voices both past and present – murderers and monks, smugglers and priests, environmentalists and developers all of whom who make up England’s rugged backbone.
The event is chaired by Caroline Beck.
