Following a year of passionate debate at 2017’s United States of Resistance salons, we’re delighted to launch Reading and Resistance – a new series of salons at which writers and readers will discuss the relationship between literature and politics in the work of authors from all over the world. On March 7th, journalist Max Liu will be joined by authors Jeremy Gavron, Tony White and James Miller.
In the spirit of a true literary salon, there will be an opportunity for audience members to take part in our discussion – we encourage both questions and opinions, so do come armed with both! The event will be followed by a book signing.
The Fountain in the Forest by Tony White transforms the traditional crime narrative into something dizzyingly unique. At once an avant-garde linguistic experiment, thrilling police procedural, philosophical meditation on liberty, and counter-culture bildungsroman, this is an iconoclastic novel of unparalleled ambition.
Drinks will be served from 6pm.
Date: Wednesday, 7 March
