Maria Fusco

Maria Fusco is a Belfast-born interdisciplinary writer. She is author of six books, the newest of which, Legend of the Necessary Dreamer, has been described by Chris Kraus as "a new classic of female philosophical fiction."

She is editorial director of The Happy Hypocrite, a cross-genre journal for and about experimental writing; wrote and directed Master Rock, a radio play performed and recorded inside Ben Cruachan, a mountain on the west coast of Scotland, (Artangel and BBC Radio 4) and ECZEMA! a new play to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS (National Theatre Wales).

She was inaugural writer-in-residence at Kadist Art Foundation (Paris), Lisbon Architecture Trienale and Whitechapel Gallery (London), and founded the influential Arts Writing programme at Goldsmiths, University of London and is currently the new Professor of Interdisciplinary Writing at Northumbria University and Honorary Professor at University of Art & Design Offenbach am Main Frankfurt, and was previously a Reader at University of Edinburgh.
