Jill Dawson

Jill Dawson is the author of seven novels and winner of an Eric Gregory Award for poetry. Fred and Edie, her third novel, published in 2001, was shortlisted for the Orange and Whitbread prizes and voted 'one of fifty essential novels by a living author'. Her sixth novel, The Great Lover, was selected as a Summer Read for 2009 by TV's Richard and Judy Book Club. Her most recent, Lucky Bunny, was a Fiction Uncovered choice. Her eighth novel, The Tell-tale Heart, will be published by Sceptre in 2014.

Jill has been a freelance writer and tutor of Creative Writing for over twenty-five years and has taught Creative Writing in a wide variety of settings and in many parts of the world, including for UEA, the Arvon Foundation, the UEA/Guardian master classes and Amherst College and the National University of Singapore. She is currently director of Gold Dust, a mentoring scheme for writers. She is a Royal Literary Fund Advisory Fellow and holds an honorary doctorate of letters.
