I'm Garland Maddigan, a true-born Maddigan and part of Maddigan's Fantasia, the greatest circus in the world.

In a time not far from our own, a colourful group of travellers journey through a damaged world. They are the magicians, clowns, and trapeze artists of the Maddigan's Fantasia, healing the land with wonder and laughter.

Garland Maddigan, the 12-year-old daughter of the Fantasia's ringmaster, has been on many journeys before. But when three strange children join the circus, events take a sinister turn. For the children have a secret past and are being hunted by powerful enemies.

Soon Garland finds herself on a terrifying adventure that will take her into perilous underground tunnels, through the land of the Witch-Finder and across time itself . . .
