Faber to publish Harry Hill’s first novel for children

Faber Children’s is thrilled to announce a three-book series deal with comedian Harry Hill. The first book Matt Millz starts the adventures of 12-year-old Matt, who is desperate to be a stand up comedian and appear at the Hammersmith Apollo. Which might be a little easier if his best friend and manager Rob would stop booking him gigs like the local W.I Cheese and Wine Night.

Hill says ‘I’ve been getting a lot of letters from young people asking me how I became a comedian, I’m hoping they will find the answer in Matt Mills’s adventures. I also hope that through Matt I can communicate the excitement and thrill of starting out in showbusiness.’

Publishing in hardback in November 2017, Matt Millz will be illustrated by Steve May, best known for Dennis the Menace illustrations. World Rights were bought from Paul Stevens at Independent Talent.

Leah Thaxton, Children’s Publisher, says ‘For years now, Harry Hill has entertained millions of children through his TV shows and joke books, so I am thrilled that he is now moving into fiction and is just as talented in this arena.’
